What is Washer Fluid

Windshield washer fluid is an essential fluid especially for motor vehicles, which is used in washing the windshield especially the windscreen after every drive. This is also used to wash off dirt and stains. The windshield washer fluid ensures that you get the clearest view possible from your vehicle. There are different types of fluid that you can use in washing your windshields. It has different cleaning powers and it is recommended that you read the instructions provided by the manufacturer before you apply it.

The first type of windshield washer fluid that you can use is the regular kind. This is usually available at any service station or gas stations. The cleaning power of this fluid is very good and it does not leave much residue behind after cleaning. You just need to empty out the container and fill the reservoir with plain water to be able to clean the glass surface. Scrub the area of the damage and wash the dirt with the ordinary detergent.

Another type of cleaner is the windshield wipers with washer fluid. If you have damaged windshield wipers, then this is one of the best solutions for you. You just need to refill the reservoir with water and scrub away the grime left behind by the car wash. You may be required to scrub harder if the damage is extensive or worse yet, you might have to replace some of the windshield wipers.

Water-based antifreeze is another common fluid that you can find when shopping for windshield wiper fluids. This fluid helps in removing the poisonous gas that forms in the antifreeze when it comes into contact with the body of an automobile. The antifreeze causes the freezing of the body of the automobile. Water molecules repel each other and hence, the antifreeze vanishes after a short time. To remove the poisonous gas, the antifreeze needs to be refilled after some time with distilled water-based washer fluid.

The windshield wiper blades need to be regularly maintained. However, when doing so, you should firstly store them properly. If the blades are not stored properly, the rubbing action during the winter could damage them. The following tips can help you store your washer fluid properly:

Before closing the reservoir, turn the power off to the machine. Take off all accessories including hoses, screws, belts and other fittings. You also need to open the reservoir up slightly by unscrewing few bolts. Close the reservoir using the cover latch.
